Richard Lee McNair is an American fugitive who gained notoriety for his numerous successful escapes from police custody. McNair was born on December 19, 1958, in Oklahoma. He was serving a life sentence for murder in a federal prison in Louisiana when he managed to escape not once, but twice.
In 2006, McNair escaped from prison by mailing himself out in a crate. He was on the run for several months before being apprehended in Canada. He was then sentenced to an additional 20 years in prison for his escape.
McNair is also known for being a skilled counterfeiter and for committing bank robberies. He is considered to be extremely dangerous and cunning, making his ability to evade law enforcement particularly worrying.
As of now, McNair remains in federal custody serving multiple life sentences for his crimes.
